Selling on marketplaces can be a win-win situation. For a small fee either per listing or monthly, the marketplace owner makes money and the entrepreneur profits by running their own business.
The marketplace operator wants shop owners to succeed so they take on the task of marketing to drive customers to the website. This could mean less marketing for store owners and more marketing for the marketplace owner.
There’s not very much technical responsibility from the store owner because the website is already done for you. All you need to do is add photos of your jewelry, descriptions and pricing.
A true reality for selling on marketplaces is, there is lots and lots of competition on online marketplaces. Other shop owners will be be doing what they can to get those dollars from the same customers as you. Your brand should be unique and stand-out in a crowd. That could mean doing series of limited color designs or limited edition tiger eye designs... etc.
Some websites charge a monthly fee that you need to pay regardless of whether you’ve made sales or not.
